The modern Middle East is widely regarded as a mess, with problems including the civil war in Syria and ongoing tension between Israel and the Palestinian Territories.

Phil Clark was joined by two experts to discuss some of its recent history – starting 100 years ago with the Sykes-Picot agreement which carved the region up between France and Britain – to explore the impact this agreement is still having today.
